Aurora, Darpan partner on “Timirpanthi”

Southeast Asia funding and development outfit Aurora Media Holdings and Singapore-based indie producer/distributor Darpan Global have partnered on an option to co-produce Dhruv Bhatt’s Gujarati book, “Timirpanthi” (“Pilgrims in the Dark”).

The screenplay is by Jay Bhatt, and playwright/director Dakxin Bajrange is attached to the project.

Aurora and Darpan hope to begin production in Q3 next year.

Described as “part travelogue and part novel”, “Timirpanthi” is a gritty true story of several nomadic tribes of thieves and their culture.

The film is based around a woman’s struggle to set up a school in her community, which leads us to her unseen, and unheard world where thieving is their livelihood and an art.

Aurora’s 2018 feature slate includes Indonesia’s “Abracadabra” with Reza Rahadian, “Storm Boy” headlined by Geoffrey Rush and Jai Courtney and “Stano” starring Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello.
