Trends & Outlook

“We correctly predicted that 2017 would see a growing number of ‘East meets West’ partnerships, and we hold the same prediction for 2018 in which there will be growing demand for business joint ventures and co-productions for animated shows between East and West. The East market size is still small compared to the West but we must not neglect its growth potential as evident from the sales performance from some of the global toy manufacturers and retailers.”

Asia focus in 2018

“FMK has produced two new animated titles readily available in 2018. Both are very trend-driven – one being an action comedy for 6 to 9 year olds, and one being STEAM-themed shows for pre-schoolers. With the positive feedback from the initial broadcast pitch at MIPCOM 2017, FMK is confident that the shows will be well-received in this region. China and Korea are still our key countries to focus on in 2018 for the new shows, and FMK will continue to grow its consumer product licensing business in China with Tree Fu Tom and Kate & Mim-Mim as both are being aired by CCTV and multiple digital platforms.”
