Broadcasters in seven Asia markets – Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong – have acquired a raft of kids titles from Singapore-based indie distributor, Bomanbridge Media, which has listed its latest sales in the run up to Mipcom in Cannes later this month.
The most popular show was Sinking Ship’s "Dino Dana", about a nine-year-old girl who loves dinosaurs.
The sales come less than two months since Sinking Ship said it was expanding the franchise with new series, "Dino Dex", aimed at four to seven year olds.
Japanese public broadcaster, NHK, picked up seasons two and three of "Dino Dana" following the premiere of the show on Sunday evenings earlier this year.
Indonesia’s Mentari TV acquired all four seasons of "Dino Dana" alongside Benesse Corporation’s "Shimajiro" (190 x 8 mins), an animated pre-school series about a curious tiger boy.
In Hong Kong, PCCW has added the first two seasons of "Dino Dana" to its line up, along with the movie version in a package that also includes Hoho Entertainment’s "Toad & Friends" and "Cloudbabies" and season one of Sixteen South’s pre-school series "Odo". PCCW has also bought Sunwoo’s "Treehouse Detectives", produced for Netflix.
"Toad & Friends" is also heading for Taiwan’s Good TV and the Philippines, and "Odo" will air on Thailand’s TrueVisions, Bomanbridge said, adding that Thailand’s TPBS had acquired seasons three and four of "Paw Patrol", Paramount’s CG action-adventure produced by Spin Master Entertainment.
In the Philippines, CNN has acquired the 20-part series "Box Ideas" from Earth Tree, which inspires children to upcycle cardboard; adventure series "The World is Yours"; and talkshow "Human Nature", also from Sabbatical Entertainment.
Malaysia’s Media Prima acquired animated series "Booba’s Adventures".
