COL Seals Broad Vertical Video/Microdrama Alliance with Thailand's CP Group – ContentAsia LIVE 2026
26 August 2026

Thai conglomerate CP Group's new TaTang by True ID vertical platform adds a branded content tab from the COL Group's FlareFlow drama service in September as part of a three-pronged partnership that also includes a slate of microdrama remakes for domestic Thai audiences and a framework to boost Thai expertise in short-form drama.

The new collaboration, announced during the ContentAsia LIVE event in Bangkok today, comes ahead of the first Microdrama & Vertical Entertainment Upfront event organised by COL with VIRTUE Asia and V47 Entertainment. The Upfront – dubbed "Inside Microdramas" – takes place in Singapore on 27 October.

The COL/CP Group remakes initiative is scheduled to kick off in October this year and will be based on titles from COL Group/FlareFlow. The number of titles, which will involve AIGC-enabled production capabilities, has not been confirmed.

The FlareFlow Mini tab on TaTang by True ID will carry FlareFlow series language customised for Thailand.

As part of the partnership, the two companies are also developing a short-form drama talent incubation programme designed to boost short-form creative skills.

"Building a sustainable short-form entertainment industry requires us to invest beyond content and into the next generation of Thai creative talent," said Patsakorn Laohrenu, CP Group's Director of Business Development of Content & Media Group, during the announcement.

Timothy Oh, COL Group's GM International and FlareFlow CMO, said the Inside Microdramas Upfronts would "draw a clear distinction between microdrama as a specific short-form, serialised storytelling format and vertical entertainment as the broader evolution of mobile- first entertainment".

“Microdramas are not the entire story. They are the first signal of a much bigger shift in how entertainment is created, distributed, funded and consumed,” Oh said.

“Microdramas are not the entire story. They are the first signal of a much bigger shift in how entertainment is created, distributed, funded and consumed,” Oh said.

“Inside Microdramas is designed to move the conversation beyond the format itself and explore the wider vertical entertainment economy emerging around it. It will also give brands the opportunity to participate much earlier, not simply as advertisers, but as partners in building the next generation of entertainment IP," he added.

The event will include a preview of COL Group’s and V47 Entertainment’s upcoming 2027 slate, featuring creator-led intellectual property, original vertical entertainment concepts and early-stage partnership opportunities.

The initial presentation will showcase approximately 10 projects available for development and production with brand partners, giving participating companies the opportunity to engage with projects before they are fully financed or produced.

"Rather than placing brands into completed stories, the slate is designed to create opportunities for brands to help enable and shape entertainment from the beginning, while protecting the creative integrity required to attract and retain audiences," Oh said.
