First "MasterChef Sri Lanka" in the works; 71st version debuts on ITN in September

Banijay Rights had just announced the first Sri Lanka adaptation of "MasterChef". The 25-episode debut season, produced by Reality TV Production (Pvt) Ltd in association with Nilendra Deshapriya Productions, will air on free-to-air channel ITN this September.

"MasterChef Sri Lanka" is the71st international adaptation of the non-scripted culinary format. The deal was sealed by Rashmi Bajpai, EVP Sales Asia, Banijay Rights.

Priyantha Wedamulla, chairman of ITN, said the adaptation marked "a new chapter in Sri Lankan television history".

The season’s winner will receive 3 million Sri Lankan Rupees in cash, a luxury vehicle, and the MasterChef trophy.
