"Jumbo" producer Visinema unveiled the cast of its upcoming contemporary action film "Queen of Malacca" in Yogyakarta this afternoon. The feature – one of the studio's most ambitious – marks the return of filmmaker Angga Sasongko to directing after two years.
"Queen of Malacca" stars Claresta Taufan ("On Your Lap"), Jihane Almira, Lutesha and Dion Wiyoko, along with Wulan Guritno and Marcella Zalianty.
"Queen of Malacca" is currently in production and is slated for theatrical release in 2026.
The film, today described as Sasongko's "most complex and action-intensive project yet", is co-written by Sasongko and Irfan Ramli ("24 Hours with Gaspar"), marking a reunion between the duo who co-wrote the blockbuster action feature, "13 Bombs".
“Returning behind the camera for "Queen of Malacca" feels like coming home," Sasongko a said today.
Produced by Kori Adyaning, "Queen of Malacca" is about three formidable women – portrayed by Claresta Taufan, Wulan Guritno and Marcella Zalianty – whose rise, rivalry, and influence shape the underworld they inhabit.
Action sequences are choreographed under the guidance of acclaimed stunt coordinator Chan Man-ching, known for his work on "Rush Hour" and numerous Jackie Chan blockbusters.
