Iskandar Malaysia Studios (IMS) has opened 5,000 square feet of purpose-built sets in a collaboration with Singapore’s B-01 Films, Mozaika and Clover Films.
The two new sets add a hospital, including an operating theatre, pharmacy and dentist, and a police station.
The hospital set also includes a registration area, an intensive care unit, a four-bed ward and a consultation room.
The police station set has interrogation rooms, offices and briefing spaces.
Plans are in the works to expand facilities to prison cells, courtrooms, airplane cabins, cockpits and trains in the near future, Rashid Karim, CEO of Iskandar Malaysia Studios, said at the opening this month.
"These purpose-built facilities are designed to address one of the biggest challenges in filmmaking –
securing authentic locations – by offering realistic, flexible, and controlled environments that
make shoots smoother, safer and more cost-effective," the partners said during the opening on 25 September.
Clover Films' MD, Lim Teck, said the initiative "doesn’t just remove location barriers; it strengthens
Iskandar Malaysia Studio (IMS)’s role as a regional production hub. This is only the first
phase. We look forward to expanding these sets and deepening the collaboration as a concrete
step toward strengthening production synergy across the region – especially between Singapore and Malaysia – with the film incentives from both countries, we look forward to power bigger,
more ambitious projects.”
