Japan, New Zealand pick up rights to Sony Pictures Television’s “Long Bright River” in new deals announced on day one of Series Mania Forum
25 March 2025

Japan’s BS10 Star Channel and Warner Bros Discovery in New Zealand have added Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) suspense thriller, “Long Bright River” to their line-ups in new deals announced during Series Mania in the French city of Lille today. The series is part of the Series Mania Festival’s international competition.

The latest deals add to previously announced agreements with Stan in Australia, LG Uplus in South Korea and Now TV in Hong Kong.

The limited drama series is about Mickey (played by Amanda Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighbourhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins, Mickey realises that her personal history might be related to the case. The series is based on Liz Moore’s novel.

"Long Bright River" comes from SPT and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
