Malaysia, Philippines join forces on three co-productions; Double Vision, ABS-CBN and Astro Shaw colab reboots 2008 hit “A Time for Us”
03 December 2025

Malaysia’s Double Vision and Astro Shaw and the Philippines’ ABS-CBN  have joined forces on three scripted series that signal the beginning of a ramped up co-production era for the two countries after almost two decades. The deal involves 30 hours of content over the next two to three years.

The new shows include a reboot of  romantic suspense drama, “A Time for Us” (“Kahit Isang Saglit”) – the 2008 collaboration between Double Vision and ABS-CBN. Production is scheduled for the second half 2026, with delivery towards the end of the year.

The other two scripted series will be “Besa” and “Habitat”.

The three series – each 10 hours in length – will be made available to viewers as iWant Originals on ABS-CBN’s iWant streaming  platform and as Astro Originals on Astro platforms in Malaysia.

Set between  Kuala Lumpur and the charged political landscape of the Philippines, “A Time for Us” follows Angela and Miguel, whose parallel quests for justice converge and they discover their families are deeply intertwined in a cover-up that spans decades.

Crime thriller “Besa” is adapted from an original idea by Srđan Šaper and created by British writer Tony Jordan (“Life on Mars”). The adaptation is a cooperation with rights holder Adrenalin.

The series follows Gabriel Diaz, a Filipino man dragged into a secret underground mafia world and forced to kill to atone for accidently killing the daughter of a Malaysian gang boss.

“Habitat”, based on an original idea from Double Vision, is a young adult science fiction/adventure drama about a group of misfit teenagers who must save the world from the evil teachers at their boarding school – who just happen to be body snatching aliens.

The co-production agreement is supported by FINAS, Malaysia’s National Film Development Corporation.
