“The Maverick Academy” heads for Netflix; Alvin Leung headlines culinary competition show for AR Asia Productions
29 October 2024

AR Asia Productions' first reality show, "The Maverick Academy", premieres on Netflix in 13 countries in Asia on 8 November, followed on 1 December with a launch on Hong Kong airline, Cathay Pacific.

The five-episode culinary competition series, headlined by "The Demon Chef" Alvin Leung, is the first series out of the Asia-based indie to be picked up by Netflix.

"The Maverick Academy" is being marketed as "a quest for the next culinary prodigy and business partner".

The winner is being promised a position as Leung's apprentice and business partner, "setting the stage for a transformative journey in fine dining".

The show's mentors include Thai chefs Pam Soontornyanakij and "Top Chef Thailand" winner Chudaree “Tam” Debhakam.

Contestants are drawn from across the region, including Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Myanmar.

"The Maverick Academy" is executive produced by Anne Chan.
