Netflix greenlights Korean "Money Heist"; Kim Hong-sun to direct, with script by Ryu Yong-jae

Netflix has greenlit a Korean adaptation of Spanish drama, "La Casa de Papel" ("Money Heist"), produced by BH Entertainment and Contents Zium.

Kim Hong-sun ("Voice", "Black") will direct the new series, which is set on the Korean peninsula, the streamer said in an announcement out of Seoul today.

The 12-episode Korean version is the scripted format’s first in Asia.

The screenwriting team is led by Ryu Yong-jae ("My Holo Love", "Psychopath Diary").

Release details have not yet been disclosed.

Netflix said in the announcement that "La Casa de Papel" season four, released in April 2020, had been accessed by more than 65 million subscribers in its first four weeks. The series debuted in in 2017. The fifth and final season is currently in production.
