Netflix opened the week with love and laughter in new Korean role-reversal romcom “Fall in! Love”, presented with a microdrama-style subject line – “His Former Commanding Officer is Now His Junior?!” – helmed by “My Roommate Is a Gumiho” director Nam Seong-woo.
Also in Seoul, Coupang’s news of the day is that Japanese-Korean singer Kangnam – he of YouTube channel Neighborhood Friend Gangnami, which has 1.44 million subscribers – is joining some of the countries’ top comedians under the banner of CP Entertainment (producers of award-winning “CNL Korea”); no actual projects confirmed, which isn’t stopping Coupang from stirring up anticipation.
CP Entertainment described him as a “valuable resource”. More excitement out of Korea, this time with a Singapore angle: Coupang/Borderless Film/Mediacorp co-production “The Absolute Value of Romance” released its trailer on Good Friday; the teen series about a high-school girl who writes BL novels premieres on Coupang and on Amazon’s Prime Video on 17 April. The Mediacorp premiere has not been confirmed.
