Netflix unveiled the full cast of director Shinji Higuchi’s Japanese film “Bullet Train Explosion” today, saying lead actor Tsuyoshi Kusanagi would be joined in the high-speed race-against-time thriller by Kanata Hosoda as a train conductor; Non as the train driver and Jun Kaname as an entrepreneurial YouTuber.
Kusanagi stars as conductor Takaichi on a train carrying a bomb rigged to detonate if the train's speed drops below 100 km/h. As panic grips the passengers, the crew and the Shinkansen General Operation Control Center race against time to avert disaster.
The cast also includes Machiko Ono as a member of Japan’s House of Representatives; Hana Toyoshima as a student; and Takumi Saitoh as the commanding officer of the control centre orchestrating rescue efforts.
Other cast members announced today are Daisuke Kuroda, Satoshi Matsuo, Suzuka Ohgo, Matsuya Onoe, Naomasa Musaka, Pierre Taki and Bando Yajuro.
“Bullet Train Explosion”, based on Junya Sato’s film “The Bullet Train” and part of Netflix’s Japan showcase in February, is produced by Kota Ishizuka.
The film premieres on 23 April.
