Pakistan minister slams state network for Turkish drama success
01 June 2020

Pakistan’s minister for science and technology, Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, is hammering state-backed television network, PTV Home, for taking pride in the success of Turkish drama Al-Tughral (Dirilis).

The series has been dubbed in Urdu for local audiences and airs in a prime time slot on the national network.

Chaudhry took to Twitter to reprimand the network, saying management should focus on domestic production instead of foreign dramas.

The Pakistan Press Foundation news platform quoted him as saying that airing foreign dramas would ruin Pakistan’s production industry.

Meanwhile, PTV News has launched nine new shows in a broad content revamp.
