Rescue drama @ Mediacorp, Sky Limit; Singapore, Taiwan move forward on script development
10 November 2025

Singapore’s Mediacorp and Taiwanese production house Sky Limit Pictures are moving forward on co-developing the script for emergency rescue premium drama, "Lives at Stake" (EMT 救援事件簿).

The 12 x 45-minute US$3.84-million drama was part of the TCCF series pitch in Taipei last week as "Rescue Life". In the eight-minute pitch, the producers said this was “not just a TV drama” and highlighted its potential as a multiple IP property.

The premium drama concept was also among the winners of Mediacorp’s joint Mandarin original drama screenplay competition with Taiwan’s government agency TAICCA in 2023.

Sky Limit Pictures’ producer, Sky Chao Tien-hao, says the project has already undergone two years of script development “with the goal of creating a heartwarming and emotionally moving drama that highlights humanity”.

Sky Limit Pictures is best known for "More than Blue", the domestic adaptation of the 2022 Korean drama "Our Blues".

“Lives at Stake is not just a series about rescue missions – it is also a journey exploring how people are reborn under extreme circumstances,” he says.

"Lives at Stake" follows Ma Chenghao, a concert-stampede survivor who joins a volunteer EMT team. As he faces life-and-death rescues and confronts his own trauma, he embarks on a journey of redemption and rediscovers his purpose in saving lives.

Mediacorp’s rep on the project is Goh Ling Ling, vice president of ideation and scripting, who says the company is taking an earlier role in the creative process to “shape narratives with depth and global appeal”.

Today’s announcement comes days after this year’s Taiwan Creative Content Festival (TCCF) wrapped in Taipei, and signals the continued expansion of Mediacorp’s strategy from co-production to co-development.

Mediacorp describes the partnership with Sky Limit Pictures as a new phase in its international ventures, reflecting its “growing focus on creative exploration and story development”.
