Singapore, Taiwan break new ground on office romcom; “Love on a Shoestring” slated for 2024 release
17 October 2023

Singapore’s Mediacorp and Taiwan’s TVBS have tied up for the first time on an office romcom, “Love on a Shoestring”, slated for release on both platforms in 2024.

The new series is adapted from the Chinese novel, “完全省钱恋爱手册” (“Love on a Shoestring”), about three couples with different perspectives on finances as they attempt to strike a balance between love and money matters.

Taiwan’s Guo Shu Yao (郭书瑶), Sam Lin Zi Hong (林子闳), Lin He Xuan (林鹤轩), Huang Bo Feng (黄柏峰) and Katie Chen Yu An (陈语安) star alongside Mediacorp’s Cheryl Chou (周智慧), Tyler Ten (邓伟德) and Jernelle Oh (胡煜诗).

Filming starts this month.

Speaking about the new initiative, Mediacorp’s chief content officer, Virginia Lim, and TVBS vice president, Steven Hao, emphasised the importance of collaborations to drive the creation of quality content and an expanded regional presence.
