Sony pulls the plug on AXN in India/S. Asia
01 June 2020

Sony Pictures Television is pulling the plug on its high-end English-language entertainment network AXN in India and the subcontinent at the end of this month after more than two decades.

Sony confirmed the move to Indian media, describing the decision as part of a channel portfolio realignment.

The India decision might be linked to the sale of Sony channels in the rest of Asia to KC Global Media, owned by Andy Kaplan and George Chien.

Sony’s India business was not part of the sale, but the AXN feed for South Asia is believed to have come through the Singapore-based regional operation.

Sony’s India business continues to be managed through Los Angeles.

Neither Sony Pictures nor KC Global Media have commented yet.
