“Squid Game” tops Korean demand; local titles sweep top 10 – Parrot Analytics
24 March 2025

Demand for TV shows in Korea is 100% local, with not a single foreign title making the list of top 10 titles in demand on the general or the digital list, according to Parrot Analytics.

Like elsewhere in the region (see page 3), Netflix’s "Squid Game" topped demand, followed on the general demand list by long running SBS variety show, "Running Man", which came in at 24.4x higher demand than the market average for the week of 17-23 February. In second place on the digital list was Coupang Play’s zombie romcom, "Newtopia", starring Blackpink’s Jisoo and Park Jeong-min as a couple trying to reconcile in the midst of a zombie outbreak.

In third place on the general list is a reality show that features foreign parents visiting South Korea to experience the lives their children have built.
