Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom showcases six upcoming originals; commits to continued investment in original films and drama
06 November 2025

Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom showcased six upcoming original productions in Taipei this morning, and committed to “continue investing in Taiwanese original films and dramas”. Opening Day Three of TCCF 2025, the telecom giant also outlined a three-pillar content strategy led by a focus on launching what it called a “T-Wave” to promote Taiwanese content and talent around the world.

The second pillar of the strategy  involves expanding the ecosystem – “building a dual-track investment approach through corporate and fund participation to develop an IP-driven audiovisual ecosystem”.

The third is “co-creating brilliance”, which involves empowering audiovisual marketing through platform alliances “to create a new force in premium streaming”.

The six projects include Taiwan-Japan co-production “Arrested Memory”;Taiwan-Korea romance film “The Photo of 1977” with, among others, Hakka Public Communication Foundation; drama series “The Fame”; action film “Dangling” starring Austin Lin; and an eight-episode fantasy series, “The Great Tipsy: 1980s”, from Ksana Films (The Amazing Grace of Sigma”).

Opening Day Three of TCCF 2025, the telco’s GM of personal home business group, Hu Hsueh-hai, said “launching the T-Wave is a challenging mission that demands both passion and perseverance”.

Hu said Chunghwa’s Cultural and Creative Fund, managed by Chunghwa Digital Creative Management Consulting Co, was planning investments in “cultural content IP projects” spanning films, TV series, variety shows and music along with platform distribution. The fund will also target key technologies and platforms, such as generative AI tools and immersive experiences.

“Any high-quality production or enterprise that contributes to strengthening the IP value chain will be considered for investment. Through both project-based and equity investments, the fund aims to establish and interlink a co...
