Taiwan’s Dee Hsu returns to TV in streamer Catchplay’s first original variety comedy show; regional streamer also greenlights BL co-pro with Japan
06 December 2021

Taiwan’s Catchplay has greenlit its first variety comedy show, “Dee’s Talks”, along with its first Boys Love (BL) series – Taiwan-Japan co-production “+- Plus and Minus”.

The Taipei-based streamer announced the new productions as the ATF market closed on Friday.

“Dee’s Talks” is a 10-part variety-comedy show hosted by Dee Hsu (徐熙娣), aka Little S (小S).

“Dee’s Talks”, with a lineup of celebrity guests, will premiere on 23 December exclusively on Catchplay+ in Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore.

The list of guests has not been disclosed.

The series marks Hsu’s first streaming show and a return to TV after her 12-year programme, “Here Comes Kangxii”, with co-host Kevin Tsai closed in 2016.

Shaoyi Chen, head of production at Catchplay’s production subsidiary, Screenworks Asia, said the new series was “just as spicy and controversial as her previous shows but more casual, direct and free without the constraints of conventional talk shows”.

In a second first as Catchplay closes the year, the streaming platform has tied up with Japan’s Rakuten TV Japan, SPO Entertainment Inc, and Video Market Corporation on a 12-part BL series, “+- Plus & Minus”.

The series is supported by Taiwan’s International Co-funding Program (TICP) from Taicca.

The series, directed by I-Hsun Huang, is in production and is scheduled to premiere in early 2022.

The new shows follow Catchplay originals such as “Trinity of Shadows” and “The Making of An Ordinary Woman II”.
