10-year-old Japanese action entertainment franchise, "High & Low", is being adapted for Thailand by GMMTV and Parbdee Tawesuk, the producer of "F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers".
Thirteen Thai stars – including Nanon Korapat Kirdpan, Sky Wongravee Nateetorn, and Nani Hirunkit Changkham – are attached to the project, announced this evening.
The Thai version– "High&Low: Born to be High" – is scheduled to release in 2027.
This is the first international adaptation of the franchise, which encompasses drama, films, live performances, music and comics, involving a group of young men who rise up to defend their convictions.
GMMTV and Parbdee Tawesuk this evening promised a "fresh, adrenaline-charged narrative for a new era", and highlighted the 37-million strong combined social media following of the actors. This, they added, would "ensure the success of this ambitious mega-project in Thailand".
The Japanese original was produced in 2015 by Tokyo-based production house, Hi-Ax, the joint production company between Nippon TV and entertainment and talent management company, LDH Japan.
Exile Hiro, LDH Japan's chairman and CEO, said in tonight's announcement that GMMTV's version would be "reborn as an entirely new interpretation of the franchise".
