
Regional streamer Viu is returning Korean programmer SBS’ “Taxi Driver” for a third season as part of its Q4 originals' slate, the regional streamer said a few minutes ago during the opening morning of this year’s APOS in Bali.
Viu has acquired worldwide rights to the Korean series, excluding Korea and mainland China in a move the streamer said was part of its ongoing collaboration with global partners and talent for “authentic storytelling that crosses borders”.
Lee Je-hoon reprises his starring role as Kim Do-gi, the brilliant yet tormented vigilante. Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram are also back for the third season, created/written by Oh Sang-ho and directed by Kang Bo-seung.
The new season also features Edan Lui of Hong Kong’s boy band MIRROR, who makes his Korean drama debut as a character who forms an unpredictable alliance with Kim Do-gi.
“Taxi Driver 3” is produced by Studio S, the in-house production arm of SBS Media Group.
Viu CEO and managing director of PCCW Media Group, Janice Lee, said this morning that the company remained committed to compelling stories that resonate locally and travel globally.
In addition to “Taxi Driver 3”, these include “My Youth”, starring Song Joong-ki scheduled for a Q3 release, and “The Season”, which is currently shooting in Hong Kong.
Viu’s 2025 slate also includes 12 new Malay titles encompassing co-productions with Malaysian studios such as Rumah Karya Citra and Global Station as well as Indonesian content from the Viu/MAXStream Originals partnership with Telkomsel.
Q3 releases also include Korean gender-bending romcom, “My Girlfriend Is a Man!”, adapted from a webtoon; Chinese historical fantasy drama “Immortal Ascension” (凡人修仙传) starring Yang Yang (“Fireworks of My Heart”) about an ordinary boy who defies his humble roots; and, also from China, contemporary romantic drama “Love's Ambiti...

From Indonesia comes psychological romance “Rintik Terakhir”, a sequel to “Aku Tak Membenci Hujan” about a brilliant teenager living with dual personalities after trauma; and teen thriller “Secret High School” about two students who investigate the disappearance of their sister and discover an organ-trafficking ring hidden behind an exchange-student programme.
The two Malaysian originals on the Q3 schedule are romantic series, “Seadanya Kita” starring Mierul Aiman and “Putri & Phrince” directed by Liyana Jasmay.
