
Singapore's 2025 blockbuster period drama,"Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story", is heading to China in a deal between Mediacorp and the Shanghai Media Group (SMG) announced in Shanghai this afternoon during SMG’s International Audio-Visual Content Cooperation and Exchange Forum.
The deal spreads the "Emerald Hill" footprint to SMG satellite channel Dragon TV's (东方卫视) 360 million monthly viewers. The series is scheduled to air towards the end of this year.
"Emerald Hill" premiered on Mediacorp platforms earlier this year, and became the most watched local Chinese drama series in Singapore in five years, drawing more than 1.67 million viewers on streaming platform mewatch and free-TV service Channel 8.
In a simultaneous release on Netflix, "Emerald Hill" was the first Mediacorp Chinese drama to debut in Singapore's weekly top 10 TV shows, a position it held for four weeks out of a total of seven consecutive weeks on the streamer’s rankings.
Mediacorp said during today's forum that the deal "marks another key milestone in Mediacorp’s ambitions to propel Singapore stories into the global spotlight".

Virginia Lim, Mediacorp's chief content officer, said the acquisition "underscores the growing appetite for authentic local stories".
Lim also committed to growing the space for "even more distinctive Singaporean voices" among international audiences.
"Emerald Hill" is Singapore's top drama this year, with carriage on Netflix in Southeast Asia as well as on Malaysia's Astro and in Taiwan via friDAY and TVBS 42. The show is also carried on Singapore Airlines' KrisWorld platform.
Executive producer, Loh Woon Woon (罗温温), Chantalle Ng 黄暄婷 and Tyler Ten 邓伟德 talked about the series' cultural backdrop and character arcs during today's forum.
The title is also available across Southeast Asia via Netflix; to global travellers via Singapore Airlines’ inflight entertainment system KrisWorld; and additionally in Malaysia via Astro and Netflix, as well as in Taiwan, via streaming platform friDAY and TVBS 42.
A spin-off of Singapore's 2008 hit "The Little Nyonya", "Emerald Hill" is a multi-generational story about three "little Nyonyas".
