Japan’s embattled Fuji Television has unveiled a "Declaration to Eradicate Harassment" as part of the third of an eight-point reform plan formed in the wake of the Masahiro Nakai harassment scandal.
Fuji TV has been struggling to attract advertisers back to the network since the scandal broke at the end of last year.
Employees will be asked to sign the declaration, staffers were told in an all-hands gathering on the evening of 1 May.
The eight “reinforcement” measures were announced on 30 April.
President and CEO Kenji Shimizu explained all the measures at the 1 May gathering.
Fuji TV has committed to “raise awareness among all employees to foster a sense of ownership and promote recurrence prevention and compliance awareness”. .
“This declaration affirms our commitment to never tolerate any form of harassment and to ensure that all harassment is neither committed, enabled, nor overlooked,” Fuji management said.
“Regardless of whether the harassment is committed internally or externally, if it is related to Fuji TV’s business, we will respond strictly. This also includes customer harassment of employees, and we will take thorough measures to protect our staff,” the company said.
Fuji TV has already submitted its reform measures to Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
