THE BIG LIST
Country focus: Mongolia 2026

Mongolia’s most visible profile on Asia’s video entertainment stage is for its adaptations of international formats. Genres run wide, from culinary competitions and spelling contests to dating and singing shows, and domestic platforms work with formats rights holders from multiple markets. Adaptations include ITV Studios’ two seasons of “5 Gold Rings” with Central TV along with two seasons of “Rat in the Kitchen”, and more recently the first season of “The Job Interview”. Central TV has also commissioned the first season of “The Wishing Tree” from ITV Studios. Meanwhile, Mongol TV has wrapped up “The Voice” Series 4 and “The Voice Kids” Series 1, with “The Voice Kids” Series 2 planned for 2027. Earlier this year, the first version of NBCUniversal’s “Top Chef” was commissioned for NTV, Univision, DDish and Look TV, bringing NBCUniversal Formats’ Mongolia deals up to nine. There’s also a local version of Seven. One Studios International’s “Married at First Sight”, which went live in a deal struck with Sonia Fleck’s Singapore-based Bomanbridge Media. Banijay Rights has lively pickups in Mongolia too, with three seasons of “Spelling Star Mongolia” for Edu TV & Dream TV and another three of “The Secret Life of 5 Year Olds Mongolia” for Mongol TV. Then there’s Mongolia’s small but rising regional film presence, including projects such as “Searchers: Blood in the Grass” (Mongolia/South Korea), which was part of the 24th edition of the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum’s (HAF24) Genre Film Showcase in March this year.
